The mission of Bethesda's Children's Ministries is to glorify God as we support the family in the teaching of His Word to all children who come to Bethesda; that they may know Jesus as their Savior and follow Him as devoted disciples.

Children's Ministry at Bethesda has a place for your child!  We offer many programs and opportunities for your children to have fun and build relationships all while learning from God's Word. Your children will be loved and cared for by adults and youth who have a passion for kids and for Christ in a safe and secure environment.

Here's a brief video highlighting our great volunteers!

We affirm that you, the parents, are ultimately responsible for the spiritual formation of your children's lives. We want to help support you in this responsibility by providing an excellent and dynamic children's program for birth through 5th grade. We want your children to be able to learn the life-guiding principles of the Bible in a fun, caring and safe environment. We also endeavor to provide ongoing resources and training for you as parents. Following are some websites that you may find helpful.

Nursery - Caring for Our Littlest Ones

We believe your child is a special gift from God!  So our nursery has been designed to be a safe, fun,
Christian environment where you and your child feel truly welcome!

Bethesda offers 2 separate nurseries depending on the needs and age of your child during the 9:00 a.m. and both 10:30 a.m. Sunday services.

Infant - This room is generally for newborns up to those just learning to walk.

Toddler/Preschool - This room is for those children who are walking steadily to up to age 4.

A nursery supervisor is on duty each week overseeing the nurseries. The nursery volunteers can familiarize you with the nursery, the procedures used and answer any questions or concerns you may have. A pager system is used to easily locate you should you be needed during the hour. You will be asked to fill out information pertinent to that morning regarding your child. We also use a computerized check-in system for identification and security reasons. Your child will receive a stick-on nametag and you will receive a matching tag that is to be presented when picking up your child from the nursery.

For questions or if interested in serving in the nursery on a regular or part-time basis please contact Dorie Fink at dorie@bethesdalutheran.org.

Bethesda's Children's Ministry's purpose is to love and care for the children who come through our doors while teaching them about Jesus. Many, many volunteers serve as teachers, helpers, music leaders, nursery caregivers, and the list goes on. We would love to talk with you if you are interested in serving in Children's Ministries. What greater importance is there than having an eternal impact on the life of another human being?

Sunday School

We offer Sunday school at 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. throughout the school year for 3 year olds through 5th graders. The only Sundays we don't meet are during Christmas break (two Sundays) and on Easter Sunday.

3 year olds-1st graders learn about various stories in the Bible utilizing the different learning styles with Gospel Light curriculum.

2nd and 3rd graders focus on the 10 commandments, the parables, the beatitudes, and prayer (the Lord's Prayer and the 23rd Psalm) using Group Publishing curriculum. These are taught on a 2 year rotating cycle. 2nd graders also receive a Bible of their own at the beginning of the year.  Please let their teacher know if they did not receive a Bible.

4th-5th graders are presented with a general overview of the Old and New Testaments in a way that will deepen their understanding of the books of the Bible and how they fit together with the story of Jesus interwoven throughout.

3 year olds through 3rd graders (and 10:30 4th & 5th graders) also spend part of the hour in a large group worship time where they sing praises, celebrate birthdays, and learn about the mission focus for the year.

We appreciate pre-registration before our fall activites start-up. If your child begins attending after activites have started (and we'd love to have them join us!) they can be registered at one of our check-in stations the first time they come.

For safety and security reasons we use a computerized check-in system that is an easy way for you to check-in your child each week. Your child will receive a stick-on nametag and you will receive a matching tag that is to be presented when picking up your child from class.

Wednesday Night Activities

Adventure Club!

Bethesda is a busy and exciting place on Wednesday evenings! Several programs are offered from September to April. The programs below all meet from 6:30 to 7:45 PM. We encourage kids to invite their friends to these lively evenings where relationships are built and God's Word is presented. Pre-registration in encouraged but once our programs have started up you may register your child at one of our check-in stations the first time they come. In an effort to be safety and securty conscious we offer a computerized check-in system that is an easy way for you to check-in your child each week. Your child will receive a stick-on nametag and you will receive a matching tag that is to be presented when picking up your child from class.

Jr. Adventure Club — 4 year olds–3rd graders enjoy the fun and interactive 252.basics curriculum which focuses on one biblical virture each month through large and small group time.

Adventure Club 4:5 — (Proverbs 4:5 "Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or swerve from them.")  4th & 5th graders cover topics and issues of high interest to this age group through the preteenministry.net website. God's Word is explored for the answers in both large and small group time.

Bible Camp

Inspiration Point Bible Camp is the Church of the Lutheran Brethren's camp located near Alexandria, MN. Each summer we have many children and youth attend this camp. Countless lives have been touched and transformed by the Holy Spirit as a result of attending "The Point"!

Children currently in 2nd–5th grades can earn credit towards Bible camp by learning and reciting verses at home to their parents. These verses can be found on the sidebar at the top left of this page (scroll up), in the wall holder by the resource room, or by contacting the Children's Ministry department for copies. The recording sheets need to be turned in by March 17, 2017.

Children's Ministries arranges for transportation to a selected camp week for each age group. This transportation is only made possible with willing parent drivers.

Families are welcome to send their children to camp during any of the dates offered by Inspiration Point. For 2017, we will be coordinating transportation for Pioneer 1 (June 11-15) for those students entering 3rd or 4th grade, and Explorer 2 (July 16-20) for those students entering 5th or 6h grade.

Camp is also offered for children entering 1st and 2nd grade, for middle and high school youth, and for families. Check out camp's website at www.ipoint.org for more information.

Please bring these items to the Children's Ministry resource room! Thanks for your donations!

Are you looking for other ways to help with VBS? This Sunday we will have members of the VBS leadership team staff recruiting tables outside of both worship venues. Stop by and see what opportunities are available!

Are you interested in taking home a project to complete for us and return? Something that will help us transform the church into a Peruvian adventure? Stop by the recruiting tables on Sunday. We have a few projects ready with instructions and materials.
