Missions News

On Monday, November 28th, Dan Venberg, Dr. Phil Jacoby from Bethesda and six others from Canadian LB churches left for a 13-day mission trip to Chad. This trip will include visiting with Chadian Muslims in communities representing all three of LBIM’s targeted people groups, the Bagirmi, the Bilala and the Fulbe. The trip will also allow an opportunity to connect with Chadian Christians, and participate in various ministries such as water well installation, refugee relief, mosquito net distribution, and showing the Jesus film in Muslim communities.

Here are a couple prayer requests from the team:

  • God is using LBIM to advance the message of Christ in Chad among unreached Muslim people groups. Our enemy the devil is not happy about the inroads being made by the message of the gospel in an area and among people groups long held in his grip. He is and will continue to fight back, even though his days are numbered. Pray against whatever he may do in his attempt to thwart the advance of the gospel message in Chad. Pray against whatever he may try to do to thwart the purpose of this trip. The gates of hell will not prevail against the Church (Matthew 16:18). Praise God that the battle is won and that he is in control.
  • Pray for a healthy team dynamic. We are different people, extraverts and introverts alike, coming together for ten days. We will be exposed to a new climate, new cultures, new languages and new experiences. This can be overwhelming. Pray that as a team we will encourage and lift each other up, be patient with one another and spur each other on toward love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24).
